Day 115: Annapolis, part 2

Not much to report today...so we thought you might enjoy a few more bits from the Naval Academy:
* San Antonio Spurs' David Robinson is a grad. When he arrived, he was known for his incredible math skills, not b-ball. In fact, he hadn't played it very often. He picked it up as one of his two mandatory sports (all midshipmen are required to play at least two sports while attending the Academy). Obviously, Robinson discovered that math wasn't his only gift. And, he grew from 6'4" to 7'1" while in Annapolis!
* In order to graduate, all midshipmen are required to swim 300 meters, wearing full uniform, in 30 minutes or less. And a jump from the 10-meter diving platform, again in full uniform, is mandatory. Why? The deck of a Naval ship is approx 10 meters off the water, and any sailor being swept overboard (or having to abandon ship) would need to swim at least 30 meters to a rescue ship. And I thought DePauw's graduation requirements were tough!
* We learned that Medal of Honor recipients are exempt from paying taxes for the rest of their lives. Six of them were Naval grads.
* Other notable graduates: Jimmy Carter, John McCain, Roger Staubach (won the Heisman Trophy while in Annapolis).

Th-th-th-that's all, folks!
